Custom WordPress Permalink Structure

As a WordPress programmer when I program a blog, I customize the permalink settings to make them more search engine friendly. Here’s a quick video I created to walk you through changing your permalink settings from the default setting to a custom setting that the serach engines will see.

This is great but unfortunately it only works with http://www.wordpress.org blogs and not wordpress.com. Should I be switching?
