I’ve been knee deep in Facebook for almost three months now. I have two twitter accounts, Magic In Blogging and North San Diego Business, well three but I’m hoping to combine the two into the third. I have a YouTube, Digg, Delicious, Flickr and my favorite microblogging service, Plurk. Then there’s my various instant message accounts. Wow, what’s a girl to do??
To post to any of my social sites used to have to open the sites in individual tabs in my FireFox browser. What a hassle! Obviously, I wasn’t the only solopreneur to experience this problem.
I’ve been know to download and test almost anything, so I’ve been testing Social Media "assistants", for lack of a better term. I thought I’d start sharing them with you.
Today, my share is Digsby.
What Do I Like About Digsby?
One of the biggest advantages to me, with two Twitter accounts is the ability to add more than one Twitter account. It easily offers me the opportunity to update my status without having to go to a browser. I can keep up with Facebook requests, notifications, as well as tweets and Facebook, AOL and Google Instant Messages.
I can customize the skin and send files, similar to Skype.
What Don’t I Like About Digsby?
It doesn’t include my favorite microblogging tool, Plurk. It also doesn’t incorporate my YouTube or Flickr account. That would make it just about perfect.
Is Digsby Right For You?
I don’t know, you’ll have to take a look at it compared to other Social Media widgets/gadgets/assistants. Keep tuned and I’ll share what I’ve been working with, including widgets, FireFox addons (because I don’t use IE) and other tools I find here and there.
So, tell me, how are you managing your various profiles? Share by commenting below. Tomorrow, I’ll share with you another Social Media tool.

This is a great community to belong to if you are blogging. It’s also a great networking site for solopreneurs.
We need all the help we can get online. Belonging to these "social networking" communities helps your online business in so many ways. You can list the blogs you author, offer a profile widget, as well as a recent readers widget. Both widget allow you to share your online information with your readers.
Best of all, MyBlogLog offers tracking for your blog. I’ve just reviewed the stats for North San Diego Business@Large and am impressed with what I see. You can track where your readers came from, what they looked at, and what they clicked on. It’s another fabulous tool to use for your blog. Not only can we network online, building our communities, and tracking our activity.
If you have a blog, you need to join today. Let me know what you think by commenting below!

Ok, what’s a widget?
According to Wikipedia, a web widget is a portable chunk of code that can be installed and executed within any separate HTML-based web page by an end user without requiring additional compilation. They are derived from the idea of reusable code that has existed for years. Nowadays other terms are used to describe a web widget including: gadget, badge, module, capsule, snippet, mini and flake.
YIKES!!! What does that mean to you? It means you can easily add fun stuff to your blog without having any programming knowledge.
Today I’m going to share with you a fun “widget” I recently discovered, My Blog Log. My Blog Log is more than a “widget”, it’s also a social networking site.
If you have a blog, well with the exception of wordpress.com blogs, you can add this “widget” to your blog. It shows which members of My Blog Log have visited your site. This is a great way to expand your online community. Why not try it out on your blog and participate over at My Blog Log by visiting other members logs.
I’ve written a “how to” for grabbing the code you need (it’s generated for you after you do some things, like pick colors) and putting it into a text widget. Try it out and if you have any questions, IM me at magicinwords on Skype or Yahoo, or comment on this post. Let’s hear from you. Did you try the widget? If you did, how do you like it?
